Shop Local Christmas 2008
Last Updated: 01 Dec 2008
Athy is a prosperous town, with vibrant businesses, townspeople, clubs and interest groups which are the envy of this country. This Christmas I would encourage all our townspeople and businesses to shop locally, support our town and ensure our continued growth. All our Christmas needs can be sourced and bought here in Athy.
By shopping locally, we will ensure support for the further growth and development of our town. There is nothing we cannot source here in Athy. Shopping locally will protect the businesses here in Athy, will generate good local Community spirit, will encourage competition, and will be good for the environment.
Everything from the smallest to the biggest can be and will be sourced here in our numerous food stores, clothing shops, gift shops, jewellery shops, restaurants, and book stores which are located within the town. By coordinating together and shopping locally we are supporting each other and our town. Shopping locally ensures our shops can prosper and withstand the current economic woes and overcome the general economic slowdown.
When celebrating over the Christmas season, our restaurants, hotels, public houses and bed and breakfast houses will provide further inestimable quality and value for money.
Athy Chamber in conjunction with Athy Town Council has commenced an upgrade and revitalization of the Christmas lights which adorn our town. This upgrade and revitalization will continue over the next few years and ensures that our town will be lit to the envy of our neighbours. Athy Chamber members will be contributing to this further ongoing exciting development. The lights will be officially turned on the 8th December, 2008 when an outside broadcast unit from KFM will broadcast from the Emily Square.
SHOP LOCAL AND WE WILL ALL BENEFIT.
Paul A. Cunningham,
President,
Athy Chamber.
