Rose of Tralee

Last Updated: 27 Aug 2009

Just in case any body needed reassurance that Athy is a town full of wonderful talented people who bestride the world stage, this year the Rose of Tralee competition had three Roses born in Athy; The Kildare Rose, Erika Kelly, The Syndey Rose, Romy Donnelly and the London Rose, Charmaine Kenny. All of these Roses were beautiful confident and demonstrated universally acclaimed qualities of being smart articulate and charming.

Then as testament to her beauty, talents and qualities Charmaine Kenny was crowned the International Rose of Tralee in the competition’s Golden Jubilee year. Athy Chamber on behalf of our business community and on behalf of all Athy people living and working here in Athy and elsewhere around the world, heartily congratulates Charmaine on her magnificent victory and wish her the very best of luck happiness and prosperity during her year as Rose of Tralee and thereafter. We have no doubt that the world is now her oyster. Charmaine’s parents, Leon and Marian, beamed with pride as their daughter was crowned the Rose and we all shared their pride.

Athy simply needs to look within and we see all the wonderful attractions in our town. Our Roses, and in particular Charmaine, demonstrate our abilities and again we heartily congratulate Charmaine on her fantastic win.
