Business Premises Awards, 25th September, 2009

Friday the 25th September, 2009, saw the announcement of the Business Premises Award winners. The Awards ceremony took place in the Heritage Centre, Athy on friday evening the 25th September, 2009. Athy Chamber was a co-sponosr of the Awards with Athy Tidy Towns Committee. Below is the text of the speech deliverd by the Athy Chamber President, Paul A. Cunningham
"An Cathaoirleach, Councilors, Invited Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen. I am not going to delay you too much as there are many others tonight more eloquent than I and more important things to do rather than listen to me. This town must never forget our many attractions and must always show off our best talents and our businesses. We have many national and international business people, we have sent people to Antractica, have many people talented in the Arts and everywhere else and we have are very own International Rose of Tralee. Athy Chamber is delighted to be assoicated with these awards whihc show off our businesses in their best light and we would ask our town and our businesses to support the work of Ger Kelly, Athy Tidy Town's Committee and their supporters who have worked unselfishly for many years in keeping our town beautiful.

Plaques were presented to Kanes Pub Lounge and to Gillens Jewellers who won the prizes in 2007. The present award winners included commendations for Gillen Jewellers, Essence Boutique, Paddy Dunne's Public House. The award winners for the current year included Dooley Auctioneers and Clancy's Public House and the overall winner was Ulster Bank, (Ireland) Limited of St. John's Court, Athy.
