Athy Water Supply Update, 9th February, 2010

Athy Water Supply - Wednesday, 10th February, 2010

The town's water supply is being restored this afternoon (Wednesday) following the resumption of supply from the region. It is expected that all affected areas should have a full restoration of their supply over the coming hours. However, a small number of areas may remain at risk of reduced pressure until the Kilkenny Road supply is fully restored.

The Town Council regrets the inconvenience caused by this continued disruption and will continue do everything possible to minimise the scale and duration.

The Council is monitoring the water supply situation on an ongoing basis and will provide regular updates on its website www.athytowncouncil.ie and KFM radio.  All users are requested to conserve water where possible.

The mains stand-pipe arrangement at Pairc Bhride (off Fortbarrington
Road) will remain in place on a temporary basis. The public can access water at this location each day from 8am to 8pm.

NB: As a precautionary measure water from this tap should be boiled before using for drinking or cooking purposes. Please bring your own clean water container as the Town Council is not supplying containers.
