Athy Water Supply Update
Last Updated: 09 Dec 2010
Due to the continuing adverse weather conditions, the Town Council has been forced to restrict water supply on the Dublin Road and Kildare Road from 8.30 p.m. today Thursday (09/12/2010) to 7.30 a.m. tomorrow Friday (10/12/2010).
Athy Town Council continues to appeal to householders and businesses to conserve water, following restrictions placed on the regional supply. We also appeal to consumers to reduce their water consumption and in particular, people are asked not to leave taps running.
Customers should note that it will take time for the water to make its way through the pipe network while the system 'recharges'.
There is no need for people to fill baths or store large quantities of water – water tanks in every home or business will have sufficient quantity to cover the amount of water needed when water will be restricted.
The Council is monitoring the water supply situation on an ongoing basis and will provide regular updates on its website http://www.athytowncouncil.ie/.
If every household cuts back on their water usage by 10% this will have a significant effect on water availability and enable us to return to normal service sooner. (www.taptips.ie).
